This 30cm x 30cm canvas is an authentic Indigenous artwork from Central Australia and has been stretched and is ready to hang on your wall.
The Indigenous artist, Reanne Nampijinpa Brown, was born in 1989 in the Alice Springs Hospital, the closest hospital to Yuendumu, a remote Aboriginal community 290 km north-west of Alice Springs in the Northern Territory of Australia. She has lived in Yuendumu all her life, attending the local school. Reanne is married and has one little boy Jacob. She began painting with the Warlukurlangu Artists in 2002.
The country associated with this ‘ngapa Jukurrpa’ (Water Dreaming) is Mikanji, a watercourse west of Yuendumu that is usually dry. There are ‘mulju’ (soakages) in this creek bed. The ‘kirda’ (owners) of this Dreaming site are Nangala/Nampijinpa women and Jangala/Jampijinpa men. Mikanji is an important water Dreaming site, and features in at least three different water Dreaming tracks.
