The 30cm x 30cm canvas is an authentic Indigenous artwork from Central Australia and has been stretched and is ready to hang on your wall.
The Aboriginal Artist, Nathania Nangala Granites was born into a family of artists, and grew up listening to her mother’s and her father’s Jukurrpa stories. She was born in Alice Springs Hospital, the closest hospital to Yuendumu, a remote Aboriginal community located 290 km north-west of Alice Springs in the Northern Territory of Australia. Her mother is Valda Napangardi Granites and her grandmother is Alma Nungarrayi Granites (Deceased), an established artist who exhibited in Australia and overseas. Nathania grew up listening to her mother’s and her father’s Jukurrpa stories and watching her family paint.
Buying Aboriginal art helps to support Indigenous artists in many ways. Not only does it provide a source of income for the artist but it is also a way to keep traditional culture alive and to share this culture with the younger generations.
A beautiful Australian gift for birthdays, anniversaries and corporate events.
This artwork comes from Warlukurlangu Artists Aboriginal Corporation in Yuendumu, Central Australia. Established in 1985, it is one of the longest running Aboriginal-owned art centres and operates as a 100% Aboriginal-owned, not-for-profit organisation.
More than 600 artists from Yuendumu, Nyirripi and surrounding communities contribute their work. Warlukurlangu is renowned for its colourful acrylic paintings and limited-edition prints, which have been exhibited nationally and internationally.
The name “Warlukurlangu” means “belonging to fire” in the Warlpiri language. The centre exists to maintain and share Indigenous culture, support artists, and pass traditions to future generations.
