This painting is titled Yarungkanyi Jukurrpa (Mt Doreen Dreaming) and it was created by Aboriginal artist Hazel Nungarrayi Morris who paints with the Warlukurlangu art centre at Yuendumu in Central Australia.

The site of this Dreaming story is at Mt Doreen, north-west of Yuendumu where Hazel lives and works. The actions and journeys of Dreamtime ancestors created landforms, flora and fauna which we can see in the lanscape today. Dreamtime people lived at Mt Doreen and would dig for bush carrots, which created a creek flowing north. In the story depicted here by Hazel's modern and colourful interpretation, the women were travelling south whilst searching for bush tucker and prickles which they made into hair combs.

Make this original dot painting your own by stretching and adding a simple frame. Hang it on the wall in your study or lounge room - the possibilities are endless. Don't miss out - buy this beautiful Aboriginal artwork now!

How The Art Is Sourced

This artwork comes from Warlukurlangu Artists Aboriginal Corporation in Yuendumu, Central Australia. Established in 1985, it is one of the longest running Aboriginal-owned art centres and operates as a 100% Aboriginal-owned, not-for-profit organisation.

More than 600 artists from Yuendumu, Nyirripi and surrounding communities contribute their work. Warlukurlangu is renowned for its colourful acrylic paintings and limited-edition prints, which have been exhibited nationally and internationally.

The name “Warlukurlangu” means “belonging to fire” in the Warlpiri language. The centre exists to maintain and share Indigenous culture, support artists, and pass traditions to future generations.
