We love hanging Kirsty Anne Napanangka Martin's paintings here in Bits of Australia. Kirsty was born in Alice Springs Hospital, the closest hospital to Nyirripi, a remote Aboriginal community 450 km north-west of Alice Springs in the Northern Territory of Australia. She was born into a family of artists, with both her mother and grandmother also painting at the Aboriginal owned Warlukurlangu Art Centre at their home in Nyirripi.

Kirsty has been painting with the Warlukurlangu Artists since 2005. Warlukurlangu Artists provides an outlet for Warlpiri artists to paint their cultural heritage and earn income from their work.

Kirsty paints her Mina Mina Jukurrpa which is passed down to her from her father and relates directly to the land, its features and the plants and animals which inhabit it. Painting helps Kirsty to understand her dreaming and her culture, and she says "I feel proud and closer to my culture when I paint my country.”

This pre-stretched original Aboriginal artwork makes a unique Australian gift for birthdays, Christmas, weddings and other special occasions.
