When buying wool, you might see a micron count. Microns are the measurement (1 millionth of a metre) used to describe the diameter of a wool fibre. The smaller the micron count, the finer the wool fibre will be. Wool typically falls in a range of 18–40 microns.

The picnic rugs are made with robust 29 micron Merino wool, making them incredibly durable for use both indoors and outdoors.

The picnic rug has been made at the Waverley Woollen Mill in Launceston, Tasmania. From weaving, right through to cutting and finishing, the product doesn’t leave the mill until it is on the way to us. For 150 years, Waverley Mills has been crafting Australia’s finest textiles at it's historic weaving mill situated on the idyllic banks of Distillery Creek in Launceston. It is the last mill of it's kind in Australia.
