This original Aboriginal artwork by Dorothy Napurrurla Dickson depicts Ngurlu Jukurrpa, also known as Native Seed Dreaming.
Ngurlu Jukurrpa is a Warlpiri Dreaming story connected to native seeds, bush foods and Country. These stories often relate to the gathering, preparation and cultural importance of seeds as a food source, particularly for women who would collect and process them using traditional knowledge passed down through generations.
The 46 x 46cm square format makes this artwork a lovely size for gifting or for adding original Aboriginal art to a smaller space. It is easy to place in a home, office, hallway or grouped art display, while still having enough presence to feel special.
Currently available to view at our Balmain store, this piece is a thoughtful option for birthdays, thank you gifts, farewells, corporate gifts or as a meaningful Australian gift for someone overseas.
This original Aboriginal artwork is supplied unstretched and rolled, giving you flexibility with framing and making it easier to send within Australia or internationally.
This artwork comes from Warlukurlangu Artists Aboriginal Corporation in Yuendumu, Central Australia. Established in 1985, it is one of the longest running Aboriginal-owned art centres and operates as a 100% Aboriginal-owned, not-for-profit organisation.
More than 600 artists from Yuendumu, Nyirripi and surrounding communities contribute their work. Warlukurlangu is renowned for its colourful acrylic paintings and limited-edition prints, which have been exhibited nationally and internationally.
The name “Warlukurlangu” means “belonging to fire” in the Warlpiri language. The centre exists to maintain and share Indigenous culture, support artists, and pass traditions to future generations.
