The beautiful ornament has been hand made in Victoria and features stunning Aboriginal artwork by Margaret Nanagala Gallagher from the Warlukurlangu Art Centre in Central Australia. The centre is a non-for-profit organisation that is 100% Aboriginal owned by its artists from the remote communities of Yuendumu and Nyirripi.

Margaret paints with her mother and learnt to paint watching her mother and other people in the community painting. She particularly enjoys painting with her mother as it is an opportunity for her and her mother to share their Jukurrpa stories, Dreamings passed down to her by her father and mother and their parents before them for millennia. Margaret paints her Yankirri Jakurrpa (Emu Dreaming) from her father’s side and this Jukurrpa story belongs to Jangala/Jampijinpa men and Nangala/Nampijinpa women.

The decoration makes a small ethical gift for Christmas. It is perfect for family, friends and corporate gifting. Lightweight it is also a unique Australian gift to send overseas.
