This colourful painting is by Pauline Nampijinpa Singleton. It is titled Yankirri Jukurrpa, or Emu Dreaming and it tells the Dreaming (Jukurrpa) story of a "Yankirri" (emu) and a "wardilyka" bush turkey.

Ready to hang, it is a statement piece for the home.

The artwork has been stretched and has a black wooden trim around it which helps bring out the beautiful colours of the piece. There is a vertical and horizontal hanging string so you can decide which way you would like to display the artwork on your wall. 

The original artwork comes with a certificate of authentication and the story of the Emu & Bush Turkey. 

Pauline was born in Alice Springs hospital and grew up in Yuendumu an Aboriginal settlement located 290 kms north west of Alice Springs in the Northern Territory of Australia.  She has been painting with the Warlukurlangu Artists since 1999.

Pauline paints her mother’s Jukurrpa stories, Dreamings which relate directly to her land, its features and the plants and animals that inhabit it. These stories were passed down to her by her mother and her mother’s mother before them for millennia. Pauline loves spending time visiting the country around Yuendumu and telling her kids the stories of this land. When she is painting she sometimes paints by herself and sometimes with her family. When Pauline is not working, looking after children or painting she likes to go hunting for bush tucker.
