Stunning Aboriginal Art for Sale by Colin Jakamarra Gibson.

Colin was born in the bush near Lake Mackay.  He was taken early on to Mt Doreen Station and later to Yuendumu.  He lived at Areyonga where he met his wife Jennifer Nappaljarri Lewis.  Together they moved to Mutitjulu and worked with the Uluru/Kata Tjuta Rangers for six years before settling down at Nyirripi.

This painting depicts a ‘yurrampi Jukurrpa’ (honey ant Dreaming). This Jukurrpa has special significance for Warlpiri people living in Yuendumu because it passes right through the Yuendumu community. Yuendumu is therefore also called ‘Yurrampi’ (honey ant) for this reason. The ‘kirda’ (owners) of this Jukurrpa are Japangardi/Japanangka men and Napangardi/Napanangka women.

Experience the magic of Aboriginal art! Don't miss out on this beautiful artwork for sale.

How The Art Is Sourced

This artwork comes from Warlukurlangu Artists Aboriginal Corporation in Yuendumu, Central Australia. Established in 1985, it is one of the longest running Aboriginal-owned art centres and operates as a 100% Aboriginal-owned, not-for-profit organisation.

More than 600 artists from Yuendumu, Nyirripi and surrounding communities contribute their work. Warlukurlangu is renowned for its colourful acrylic paintings and limited-edition prints, which have been exhibited nationally and internationally.

The name “Warlukurlangu” means “belonging to fire” in the Warlpiri language. The centre exists to maintain and share Indigenous culture, support artists, and pass traditions to future generations.
