Original Aboriginal Painting – Shanna Napanangka Williams (107 x 91cm)

A statement original Aboriginal artwork by Warlpiri artist Shanna Napanangka Williams, measuring 107 x 91cm. Featuring rich purple and blue tones with intricate dot work, this large-scale painting reflects the vibrant visual language of contemporary Aboriginal art, where pattern, colour and movement express deep cultural connections to Country.

Shanna Napanangka Williams was born in Yuendumu in 1988 and began painting with Warlukurlangu Artists in 2002. She paints her father’s Jukurrpa (Dreaming) stories, cultural knowledge that has been passed down through generations for many millennia. Four generations of Shanna’s family are active artists with the Art Centre, each painting their own interpretations of traditional stories connected to their land and the plants and animals that inhabit it.

Shanna’s artworks are particularly popular with our customers, admired for their striking colour palettes and detailed dot painting that create a strong visual presence. This large canvas makes a beautiful statement piece, ideal for collectors or anyone looking to bring a significant work of Aboriginal art into their home.

Painted on linen, the artwork can be professionally stretched or framed to suit your space. Its generous size allows the intricate layers of dot work and colour to be fully appreciated.

This artwork is currently available to view in person at our Balmain store for those who would like to experience the texture and detail of the painting up close. It is also available to purchase online, with free standard delivery within Australia and worldwide shipping available.

Each artwork is a one-of-a-kind piece created by the artist and accompanied by documentation confirming the story and authenticity of the work.

How The Art Is Sourced

This artwork comes from Warlukurlangu Artists Aboriginal Corporation in Yuendumu, Central Australia. Established in 1985, it is one of the longest running Aboriginal-owned art centres and operates as a 100% Aboriginal-owned, not-for-profit organisation.

More than 600 artists from Yuendumu, Nyirripi and surrounding communities contribute their work. Warlukurlangu is renowned for its colourful acrylic paintings and limited-edition prints, which have been exhibited nationally and internationally.

The name “Warlukurlangu” means “belonging to fire” in the Warlpiri language. The centre exists to maintain and share Indigenous culture, support artists, and pass traditions to future generations.
