Social Impact: Royalties from the sale of the jewellery directly benefit the Aboriginal artist Margaret Nangala Gallagher in her community
Margaret paints with her mother and learnt watching her mother and other people in the community as they painted. She particularly enjoys painting with her mother as it is an opportunity for her and her mother to share their Jukurrpa stories, the Dreamings passed down to her by her father and mother, and their parents before them, for millennia. Margaret paints her Yankirri Jakurrpa (Emu Dreaming) from her father’s side and this Jukurrpa story belongs to Jangala/Jampijinpa men and Nangala/Nampijinpa women.
To care for the jewellery keep it in the protective packaging and wipe clean with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid spraying with perfume or other sprays and keep out of direct sunlight for long periods of time.
Royalties from this product directly benefit the Aboriginal artist Margaret Nangala Gallagher in her community.
