The beautiful artwork comes with a Certificate of Authenticity stamped and signed from Warlukurlangu Artists. We work directly with the art centre so you can be assured of the artwork provenance and that you have ethically purchased an incredible artwork.

The artist, Sharlene Nakamarra Nelson, was born in Alice Springs Hospital, the closest hospital to Yuendumu, a remote Aboriginal community 290 km north-west of Alice Springs in NT of Australia. Sharlene’s father’s grand-mother was Daisy Napanangka Nelson, one of the founding members of Warlukurlangu Artists Aboriginal Corporation, an Aboriginal owned and governed art centre located in Yuendumu, since 1987.

Sharlene is related to many Warlukurlangu Artists including Mary Napangardi Butcher, Wilma Nampijinpa Robertson and Narelle Nakamarra Nelson. Sharlene likes to paint Janganpa Jukurrpa (Brush-tail Possum) and Marlu Jukurrpa (Kangaroo Dreaming), dreamings passed down from her father’s side and from his father’s side before him for millennia. When she’s home she also likes to go hunting with her family.

This pre-stretched original Aboriginal artwork makes a unique Australian gift for birthdays, weddings and other special occasions. It also makes a great souvenir from Australia to remember your travels.

This original Aboriginal artwork is from the Warlukurlangu Art Centre. Established in 1985 Warlukurlangu is a not-for-profit organisation that is 100% Aboriginal-owned by its artists from the remote desert communities of Yuendumu and Nyirripi in Central Australia.
