This stunning detailed painting is an original Aboriginal artwork. It makes a unique Australian gift for family and friends overseas for special birthdays or as a wedding or anniversary present.
The painting is titled Ngatijirri Jukurrpa (Budgerigar Dreaming) by Wendy Napaljarri Kitson at Warlukurlangu artists.
Wendy was born in a small remote Aboriginal community near Alice Springs and once she had left school her family moved to Yuendumu. Yuendumu is a remote town in the Northern Territory. It is nearly 300km northwest of Alice Springs. Here she began painting with the Warlukurlangu art centre and has also sold her paintings in Tennant Creek. She loves to paint her father's Budgerigar Dreaming stories and uses an unrestricted palette, combined with traditional iconography as a Napaljarri woman in order to express through her artwork a modern interpretation of her culture.
Established in 1985 Warlukurlangu is a not-for-profit organisation that is 100% Aboriginal-owned by its artists from the remote desert communities of Yuendumu and Nyirripi in Central Australia. Warlukurlangu Artists is famous for its gloriously colourful acrylic paintings and limited edition prints. The art centre has a national and international profile and its art has been featured in hundreds of exhibitions and publications in Australia and around the world.
Sale of this artwork directly benefits the artist and the Warlukurlangu Artist community. Every painting is accompanied by a signed and dated Certificate of Authenticity which tells the story relating to the painting and some information about the artist.
