The original Aboriginal artwork makes a special Australian gift for family and friends overseas for special birthdays or as a wedding present.
The painting is titled Jinti-parnta Jukurrpa (Edible Fungus Dreaming ) by Tina Napangardi Martin at Warlukurlangu artists.
Tina Napangardi Martin Robertson was born in 1960 in Yuendumu, a remote Aboriginal community 290 km north-west of Alice Springs in the Northern Territory of Australia. Tina has been painting with Warlukurlangu Artists Aboriginal Corporation since 1996. She began screen printing and batik however it wasn’t until 2007, when her children were grownup, that Tina found the time to paint. She especially enjoys painting when her children and grandchildren are watching to explain to them the meaning of the different designs and patterns.
Established in 1985 Warlukurlangu is a not-for-profit organisation that is 100% Aboriginal-owned by its artists from the remote desert communities of Yuendumu and Nyirripi in Central Australia. Warlukurlangu Artists is famous for its gloriously colourful acrylic paintings and limited edition prints. The art centre has a national and international profile and its art has been featured in hundreds of exhibitions and publications in Australia and around the world.
Sale of this artwork directly benefits the artist and the Warlukurlangu Artist community. Every painting is accompanied by a signed and dated Certificate of Authenticity which tells the story relating to the painting and some information about the artist.
