Escape the Aussie Winter (Part 2)

  • 2 min read

Are you thinking about escaping this winter chill? We don't blame you - we're dreaming of blue skies, white sands, turquoise waters, the smell of coconut oil and delicious cocktails this month...

Here's our 2015 winter escape wish list, for some travel inspiration or just a quick daydream at work - shhh we won't tell anyone:

An old favourite: GREECE

Who can say no to the idyllic sunsets, sparkling oceans and thriving nightlife of the Greek Islands? We recommend the popular and buzzing islands of Santorini and Mykonos, or escape to the more peaceful beaches of Kefalonia which has kept it’s rural charm despite being the setting for the popular novel: Captain Corelli’s Mandolin. Somewhere different: PORTUGAL

Perched on the Iberian Peninsula, Portugal is the ideal summer holiday destination offering dramatic beaches alongside historic architecture and towns. We recommend the  Algarve coast and beaches, the capital city Lisbon or Madeira Island (known as ‘the floating garden’) if you want to get away from the crowds and enjoy hiking.

Off the beaten track: CUBA

The birthplace of Salsa, Mambo and Cohibar cigars, this Caribbean Island has it all – rich history, architecture and stunning beaches. We recommend the capital city of Havana, the inspiration for Ernest Hemingway’s The Old Man and the Sea, along with the UNESCO protected and preserved colonial city of Trinidad and Cuba’s Paris; the French infused city of Cienfuegos.

Untouched paradise: COLOMBIA

Tourism is still in its infancy but appears to be quickly growing in this colourful South American country, making it the perfect destination for more intrepid travelers. We recommend the popular cities of Cartagena and Meddelin, but if you’re feeling extra brave, take the treacherous speedboat (there are no roads) to the tranquil Capurgana on the border of Panama.

Are you planning a trip or have you recently returned from any of our dream holiday destinations?
