The patterns represented in this painting are closely connected to the landscape around Nyirripi and to the Jukurrpa of this area. Nyirrripi is located 160 km west of Yuendumu, the country is covered with sand dunes and low vegetation, sand storm and whirly-whirly (mini tornados) are frequent occurrences in the country. The designs that are painted in this painting are closely associated to the fixtures of the country, sand dunes, water holes, flora and fauna and of also the whirly-whirly lifting out of the ground carrying with them dust and seeds to be deposited somewhere else in the landscape.
