This amazing painting is by Jeanie Napangardi Lewis and will make a stunning statement piece in your home.
The large painting is 107cm by 107cm square.
It comes un-stretched so you can choose how you wish to display it - whether that is framed, stretched, shadow boxed or some other way.
Jeanie was born around 1950 on Mount Doreen Station, an extensive cattle breeding station in the Northern Territory. Jeanie’s traditional country is Mina Mina, west of Yuendumu, a remote Aboriginal community located 290 kms north-west of Alice Springs in the Northern Territory of Australia. Jeanie’s family lived in and around Mina Mina before moving to Yuendumu, and then Nyirrpi where she has lived for many years.
She has been painting with Warlukurlangu Artists Aboriginal Corporation since 2005. Warlukurlangu is an Aboriginal owned and governed art centre known for its gloriously colourful acrylic paintings and has a national and international profile. Its art has been featured in hundreds of exhibitions and publications in Australia and around the world.
Jeanie paints her Dreaming stories but the one that features constantly is Mina Mina Jukurrpa (Mina Mina Dreaming). Her paintings are of her country. In her paintings she depicts birds, trees and bush potatoes around small waterholes in Mina Mina.
Every painting is accompanied by a signed and dated Certificate of Authenticity which tells the story relating to the painting and some information about the artist.
Established in 1985 Warlukurlangu is a not-for-profit organisation that is 100% Aboriginal-owned by its artists from the remote desert communities of Yuendumu and Nyirripi in Central Australia. Warlukurlangu Artists is famous for its gloriously colourful acrylic paintings. The art centre has a national and international profile and its art has been featured in hundreds of exhibitions and publications in Australia and around the world.
