This original Aboriginal artwork by Ursula Napangardi Hudson depicts Pikilyi Jukurrpa, also known as Vaughan Springs Dreaming.
Pikilyi is a significant natural spring and Dreaming site in the Northern Territory. This Jukurrpa is connected to water, Country and ancestral stories passed down through generations. As with many Warlpiri Dreaming stories, the artwork uses traditional symbols, repeated patterning and careful dot work to represent the story and its connection to place.
The long 76 x 30cm format gives this artwork a lovely vertical or horizontal presence, depending on how you choose to frame and hang it. It is a great size for a narrower wall, hallway, shelf space or as part of a grouped Aboriginal art display.
Ursula Napangardi Hudson is a Warlpiri artist whose work is connected to the Dreaming stories and Country of her family. Her paintings often use strong pattern work and a contemporary sense of movement while remaining grounded in cultural storytelling.
This original Aboriginal artwork is a meaningful piece for a home, office or Australian gift, especially for someone looking to buy Aboriginal art with a strong connection to Country and story.
This artwork is supplied unstretched and rolled, giving you flexibility with framing and making it easier to send within Australia or overseas.
This artwork comes from Warlukurlangu Artists Aboriginal Corporation in Yuendumu, Central Australia. Established in 1985, it is one of the longest running Aboriginal-owned art centres and operates as a 100% Aboriginal-owned, not-for-profit organisation.
More than 600 artists from Yuendumu, Nyirripi and surrounding communities contribute their work. Warlukurlangu is renowned for its colourful acrylic paintings and limited-edition prints, which have been exhibited nationally and internationally.
The name “Warlukurlangu” means “belonging to fire” in the Warlpiri language. The centre exists to maintain and share Indigenous culture, support artists, and pass traditions to future generations.
