7 Wonderful Ways To Celebrate Aussie Wine Month

Aussie Wine Month, Australia's biggest celebration of Australian wine, is a month-long event ending on 31 May 2015. As part of the celebration, events are staged by Industry throughout the country, including city-based wine tastings, regional festivals, food and wine dinners and vineyard festivities.

Aussie Wine Month is an initiative run by Wine Australia as part of a broader strategy aimed at raising awareness about the diversity and quality of Australian wines among consumers and other key influencers such as sommeliers.

There are so many events for the whole family to enjoy happening across Australia. Here is a list of our seven favourite ways you can join in the fun and 'raise your glass' this May.

1. Dryandra Country Art, Food & Wine Trail: Sat 9 -  Sun 10 May

The Dryandra Country Art, Food & Wine Trail is a self-drive event that lets you discover the Dryandra Country region in all its glory. There are 17 venues participating in the towns of Cuballing, Narrogin, Pingelly, Popanyinning, Wickepin and Williamsa and entry to all venues is free.  Visitors can enjoy the art, craft, music, food and wine produced in this scenic part of Western Australia. The trail includes numerous different events including Paddock to plate and vineyard to glass, as well as special Mother's Day events at participating wineries and cafes.

2. Food and Wine Matching at the Adelaide Farmers Market: Sun 3 - Sun 31 May

Every Sunday during Aussie Wine Month, wine producer stallholders from Adelaide Farmers Market will team up with chefs in the demonstration kitchen to create delicious food and wine matches. You will witness an educational and entertaining cooking demonstration where local chefs turn fresh and flavoursome market produce into mouth-watering dishes. 

The Adelaide Showground Farmers’ Market is South Australia’s largest farmer’s market, bringing fresh food from local growers and producers direct to the public in inner-city Adelaide. 

3. Lovedale Long Lunch: Sat 16 - Sun 17 May

This event gives winelovers the chance to  enjoy fine wine, gourmet food and live entertainment at seven different Lovedale wineries in the Hunter Valley. This progressive-style lunch is the perfect way to participate in Aussie wine month and spend a whole weekend celebrating with friends or relaxing with your partner in Lovedale. 4. Tastings at the Top: Fri 15 - Sun 17 May

 One of the most thrilling and extravagant events during Aussie Wine Month is definitely Tasmania's premier culinary event ‘Tastings at the Top’. The Tasting at the Top package includes 2 night’s accommodation at Peppers Cradle Mountain Lodge, an elegant 5 course degustation menu featuring  local Tasmanian produce paired with fine Tasmanian wines,

5. The Tweed Ride: Sat 16 May

The Tweed Ride is a cycling event set in the stunning wine country of Rutherglen, Victoria. It's a fun-packed weekend of cycling revelry, divine food and vintage fashion. Participants are encouraged to embrace the theme and dress up in vintage style attire such as Tweed jackets, plaid skirts, and bowler hats, and even bring their retro bikes.

The Tweed Ride is a leisurely ride of roughly 25 kilometres, interspersed with three amazing food and wine experiences that allow you to enjoy the very best the Rutherglen region has to offer. 

This year you attendees will feast on a continental brunch, a dedacent French-inspired lunch and indulge in harvest fruits, cheeses and sweets matched to iconic muscats and fortified wines.

This unique fusion of cycling, food and vintage fashion is the perfect way to experience Rutherglen's North East Victoria's High Country Harvest 2015.

6. The Gourmet Hub - "Sharing the Love": Sat May 16 - Sun May 17

Taste the sensuous flavours of one of Australia's oldest wine regions at The Gourmet Hub in the beautiful Clare Valley in South Australia. Five fantastic Clare Valley wineries have joined forces with local foodie, Louise Haines and Café 23 for a weekend of gourmet delights accompanied by Salacious Clare Valley Shiraz, Captivating Cabernet, Rockin Riesling and a few little surprises.
