There are so many wonderful events happening this month around the nation. We have chosen 6 of our favourite Australian events occurring in January. Make sure you get out and get your share of the fun and excitement on offer!
Sports fans are spoiled for choice
Sports fanatics will be buzzing over the next few weeks from the sheer number of high profile sports events that are set to take place. We are hosting the biggest Asian sports event from 9th - 31st January, the AFC Asian Cup Australia 2015. Fans from around the world are coming to cheer on their teams at matches in Sydney, Newcastle, Melbourne, Brisbane and Canberra. 16 teams will participate including Australia, China, Japan, Iran, South Korea, UAE and Iraq.
Meanwhile the Santos Tour Down Under kicks off the cycling year on 17th January. Some of the world's top cyclists will ride past breathtaking scenery and beautiful vineyards in Adelaide and regional South Australia. This prestigious event is now the biggest cycling race in the Southern hemisphere.
Tennis lovers won't get much sleep between 19th January and 1st February as they follow one of the sport's four grand slam events held South of the equator. Melbourne Park comes alive as the Australian Open hosts the world's best and up-and-coming tennis players including our own Nick Kyrgios, who won the boys title in the tournament last year.
At the Challenge Stadium in Perth, Australia will compete against some of the best swimmers and water players in the world during the BHP Billiton Aquatic Super Series from 30th January to 1st February. This international racing event also includes an open water swimming challenge that all Western Australians have the opportunity to take part in.
Festival fun for the whole family
If you aren't much of a sports fan, never fear there are several fabulous festivals happening around the country which offer something for everyone throughout the month. One of the biggest arts festivals in 2015 will be the Sydney Festival which boasts an impressive program of performing and visual arts events from 8th - 26th January. This exciting event allows you to experience some of the best art, music, food and live performance acts that Sydney has to offer.
Australia Day Celebrations
Of course we can't leave out the one event that all Australians will celebrate this month - Australia Day! There will be thousands of events held across the country to mark the anniversary of the arrival of the first fleet at Port Jackson in 1788. From free concerts to sausage sizzles and spectacular fireworks there will be an incredible array of activities and celebrations for the whole family to enjoy.
In celebration of Australia Day 2015 we are giving away a Collectus Gum Leaves Gift Pack containing a divine Cushion cover, Tea towel & Tote bag valued at $100!
